Argentina and Chile match draw

Argentina have been held to a draw in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 South American World Cup qualifiers.

Chile were held to a 1-1 draw by Argentina in the game on Friday morning. Both goals were scored in the first half.

Argentina took the lead in the game. In the 24th minute, captain Lionel Messi scored from the penalty spot to give Argentina the lead. The referee awarded Argentina a penalty with the help of a VAR after Guillermo Maripan fouled Lautaro Martinez in the penalty box.

Sanchez scored in the 36th minute to level the game at 1-1. Unmarked on a pass provided by Gary Medell on a long free kick by Eranguez, he scored easily. In the second half, despite attempts by both teams to score, the game ended in a draw.

Brazil tops the table with 12 points from four consecutive wins. Second-placed Argentina have 11 points from five games.

Third-placed Ecuador have nine points from four games, while Paraguay are fourth with seven points from five games. Fifth-placed Uruguay also has seven points. Chile is in sixth place with 5 points from 5 games.
