Nepal ready against Iraq for world cup qualifiers

Nepal was preparing for the match in thursday evening. Now, Nepal National team has completed all the preparations for the friendly match against Iraq on Saturday. Nepal will play against Iraq at Al Fayhaa Stadium in Basra at 7:30 pm local time (NST 10:15 pm ).

Speaking to ANFA Media, National team coach Abdullah Almutairi said that the friendly match against Iraq was more about performance rather than the result. “I hope it is going to be a learning experience for our young team. He also said that, “Rather than seeking the result, it is about evaluating yourself and trying to improve on it in the future,”.

National team captain Kiran Kumar Limbu said that the team was ready to play against Iraq. Chemjong said that, “It’s a great opportunity for Nepal to play against Iraq and it is going to be a good experience for our World Cup Qualifiers matches in Kuwait and we have trained well and prepared for it,”.

Nepal has played three times against Iraq losing on all three previous matches. The latest of the match was in April, 2001 where Iraq defeated Nepal 4-2 in World Cup Qualifier. The friendly match against Iraq will be followed by second round of World Cup Qualifiers against Chinese Taipei on June 3, against Jordan on June 7 and against Australia on June 11.
