It has been proposed to bring the American Pfizer vaccine, which is allowed to be used for children, to Nepal through Covax facility. The government is preparing to vaccinate about 3.5 million children between the ages of 12 and 18. According to the Ministry of Health, 4 million doses of Pfizer vaccine have been proposed through the Covax facility.
The vaccine against covid-19 developed by US vaccine maker Pfizer in collaboration with Bioentech, has been approved for use in children in the US age group of 12 to 15 years. The results of the vaccination are also satisfactory. Pfizer conducted clinical trials on 2,260 children in the 12- to 15-year-old age group in the United States. Nepal has also offered to buy 4 million doses of the same vaccine after the Pfizer vaccine was found to be effective in children. Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Dr. Krishna Poudel informed that Pfizer vaccine is being procured for about 3.5 million children. In addition, the government has proposed to purchase 4 million doses of Moderna vaccine through the Covax facility.
