Christian Ericksen Discharged from Hospital

Eriksen collapsed on Saturday night at the end of the first half of the Euro Cup 2020 match against Finland. The referee immediately called the health team to the field after Ericksen suddenly fell on the field and lost consciousness. He suddenly collapsed before the ball could reach his place, was also given CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) by the health team on the field. After being treated on the field for about 15 minutes, he was taken out of the field on a stretcher. After regaining consciousness after leaving the field, he was taken to hospital for further treatment. According to members of the Danish health team, Ericksen’s heart had stopped beating and he was recovering after using AED.

Finland, who are competing in the Euro Cup for the first time, beat Denmark 1-0 when the game started about an hour and a half later. After the incident, the organizer UEFA had postponed the game citing medical emergency. However, after the discussion between the two teams, the game started about an hour and a half later. Shortly after being taken to the hospital, he made a video call with his colleague saying he was fine. The Danish Football Federation was also giving him regular information about his health condition. On Wednesday alone, Ericksen was told that an ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator) would be attached to his body.

Ericksen was discharged from the hospital on Friday after a successful operation. He then went to the national team camp and met his colleagues. Now he will go home and spend time with his family. He has sent its message of thanks through the federation. “Thank you to everyone who prayed for me. My surgery was successful and I am fine. I am happy to meet the team again. I will also be encouraging the team in the game against Russia on Monday, ‘he said.
